WHAT IS SKIN TAG REMOVAL?
Many people may be afflicted with skin tags, benign flesh-colored skin protrusions, in areas where there is more friction or rubbing on the skin. Skin tag removal is the process whereby these harmless but endlessly annoying tags, that are comprised of normal tissue and fat, are eliminated. Beyond beauty reasons, these tags may also get caught on clothing or jewelry and become inflamed or irritated, so why not go through the simple process to remove them when a solution is available.
HOW DOES SKIN TAG REMOVAL WORK?
The most common methods for removing skin tags are cryotherapy (using extreme cold to freeze the skin tag off) or cauterization (using heat to burn off the skin tag). Both methods are minimally invasive, safe, effective, and clean processes. For cryotherapy, liquid nitrogen is directed onto the tag for a number of seconds in order to freeze it to the point that it falls off from its base. For cauterization, a fine cautery is used is used on the tag in multiple strokes in order to burn it off while simultaneously sealing the wound it might leave behind.
WHAT CAN SKIN TAG REMOVAL TREAT?
Skin tags can form in many areas, but mostly those where there are folds and friction (such as on the neck, eyelids, underarms, thighs, and more). Further, single tags may arise or clusters of skin tags might afflict the skin. Luckily, these fleshy bumps are treatable no matter where they are located, how many there are, or what skin type clients may have. However, the cryotherapy and cauterization methods will only be effective on smaller skin tags, unfortunately our office is not equipped to deal with larger skin tags (which may need to be surgically removed).
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM SKIN TAG REMOVAL TREATMENT?
It is comforting to know what to expect with a treatment that includes the freezing or heating off of a skin protrusion, so we have detailed pre- and post- treatment instructions below so our clients can come into their appointments confident and ready.

This is to determine the best course of action for your aesthetic needs, determine what treatment is best for your skin type, and to prepare you for your what is to come. We here at Lavande want to make sure you are a candidate for this treatment as well as confident about your decision to proceed.
The treatment area will be examined by our skilled and knowledgeable practitioner before treatment, and private “before” pictures will be taken for comparison purposes and kept in your profile. Once examined, the treatment area will be prepared by being cleaned with antiseptics.
IS IT PAINFUL? ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
There might be a slight stinging during treatment, through either the cryotherapy or cauterization processes, but the sensation is minimal and quite tolerable. Numbing cream is available for purchase for clients that are worried about their tolerance level.
Side effects include skin irritation, inflammation, redness, and scarring.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS AND HOW LONG WILL THEY LAST?
Clients will be able to immediately see the skin tag come off before them – after a recovery process lasting a handful of days, it will be as if there was nothing there to begin with.
Results are permanent, but that does not mean it is not possible for skin tags to crop up again, especially if it was an area that is consistently rubbed and irritated.
